HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?

The stimulation of needles causes a release of hormones and bio-active substances, especially in the peripheral and central nervous systems, thus allowing them better regulation. The treatment then attenuates conditions such as STRESS, SLEEP DISORDERS AND ANXIETY DISORDERS. Furthermore, the immune system (which fights COLDS, SORE THROATS AND PREVENTS VIRAL DISEASES) is re-enforced, as are muscles, bones, tendons and organs. Bio-active substances have an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. They also improve the body regeneration process.

HOW TO ACQUIRE THIS DIPLOMA?
The ASA diploma is awarded to doctors who, at the end of an extensive training in acupuncture and in Chinese traditional medicine (including Chinese herbalism), acquire the title of specialist (recognised by the FMH). Basic acupuncture training includes at least 360 hours plus a final oral and written exam. I obtained the ASA diploma in 2006. I acquired my first experience in traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture during my medical studies at the University of Göttingen in Germany in 1993. This was supplemented by A and B diplomas of the German Society of Acupuncture and CAN (College of Acupuncture and Naturopathy) in 2000 and 2004.

REIMBURSEMENT OF ACUPUNCTURE BY BASIC HEALTH INSURANCE

Thanks to the recognition of the specialty of ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY FMH and the ASA diploma in acupuncture-TCM, acupuncture (including auriculotherapy = ear acupuncture) and the basic services of traditional Chinese medicine are reimbursed by the obligatory basic insurance LaMal.

In the event of a high deductible of the basic insurance, it is also possible to bill the complementary insurance with the appropriate recognition (EMR, NVS).

Thanks to a solid training in acupuncture-traditional Chinese medicine such as the ASA diploma, a specialist is able to apply international scientific knowledge in TMC and guarantees a THERAPY BASED ON PROOF.
